Do it yourself - doggy ice cream fun

Do it yourself - doggy ice cream fun (with MENU)

Even dogs enjoy any opportunity for refreshment during these hot days in summertime - jumping into cold water or … with a yummy dog ice cream. But not with an ice cream for humans, as too much sugar is not appropriate for the dogs. It is quite easy to do the ice cream without big efforts at home yourself. When choosing the ingredients - let your creativity run free or pursue the preferences of your dog. According to taste you can vary with fruits (mashed) or vegetables or you take cottage cheese or low-fat curd instead of natural yoghurt.

Dog ice cream is also a perfect alternative to snacks in hot summer days. Offer small portions and take care that your dog doesn’t eat all at once.

Our hint: freeze the food in an appropriate dog toy (a Kong for example. Close one end with kitchen foil to avoid leaking in the deep freezer) or another mould in which the ice cream is given to the dog. Your dog will be occupied licking the ice cream out of the mould and will also be delighted! It is very important that the dog doesn’t eat the ice cream all at once. Coldness combined with greedy eating could irritate the stomach. For this reason it is not recommendable to feed sensitive dogs cold dog food out of the fridge.

We created some tasty recipes for you. The quantities are calculated for a middle size ice cream. Of course you can vary all recipes according to the size of your dog. As for humans it also applies for dogs: Eat quality not quantity!

Depending on taste of your pet you can vary the fruits between strawberries, blue berries, raspberries, apples, pears, melons, nectarine, apricots and bananas. The same applies to the variation of the ingredients. Just avoid grapes, avocado, cacao, chocolate and macadamia nuts and you can’t make much mistakes

Another hint: Offer the ice cream slightly thawed on your balcony or outside in the garden to save your carpet from ice cream stains!
